Virtual Machine (ADSI-2024)
This virtual machine was created using Oracle VM VirtualBox 7.0.14.
The guest operating system is Windows Server 2022. Using VirtualBox, it is possible to run this guest on multiple platforms.
To use the virtual machine:
- Download and install Oracle VM VirtualBox 7.0. Choose the appropriate package for your OS. Only the platform package is required; the Extension Pack and the SDK are not needed.
- Download the following files to some folder on your computer (right-click and select Save link as):
- Open the VirtualBox application in your computer. In the Machine menu, choose Add. Browse to the folder where you have the virtual machine and select the .vbox file.
- The virtual machine is configured to use 8 GB of memory. This assumes that you have at least 16 GB of RAM in your computer. If this is not the case, press the Settings button and, in the System tab, change the Base Memory.
- The virtual machine is configured to use 4 CPUs. This assumes that you have at least 8 CPU cores in your computer. If this is not the case, press the Settings button and, in the System tab, change the number of Processors.
- Press the Start button to run the virtual machine.
The virtual machine contains the following software to be used during the course:
- SQL Server 2022 (Developer Edition)
- SQL Server Management Studio 19
- Database Engine Tuning Advisor
- SQL Server Profiler
- AdventureWorks sample database
