NEWPACK:
Within the NEWPACK project we aim to create a new generation of packaging materials which are sustainable, from renewable raw materials, with functional preservation activity for packed food products. In case of accidental disposal in a marine environment the new package will not be dangerous for the fish, on the contrary it is to be hydrolyzed and metabolized, with a positive nutrient effect.

To address the main goal, NEWPACK has six main secondary goals:
Development of new polyester for a packaging systems using renewable raw materials, that in case of accidental disposal in a marine environment will not be dangerous for the fish, but will have a positive nutrient effect.
Development of an active preserving packaging systems formulated with natural ingredients, to enhance food product’s shelf-life.
Application of smart technologies to track the food products across all supply chain.

Logoplaste Innovation Lab (ILAB) is an independent business unit of the Logoplaste Group dedicated to R&D of high-performance plastic packaging. It offers an integrated and complete packaging development solution that goes from early Marketing and Design research, strategy and conceptualization, to Engineering, manufacturing and implementation support.
Instituto Superior Técnico (IST)
Instituto Superior Técnico belongs to the “CLUSTER” of the 12 Best Research Universities in Europe. The team of this Project has a large experience in the synthesis of new polymers, is equipped with equipment that replicates the industrial production process, and the essential equipment for polymer characterization. Most of the experimental work take place in the IST-CERENA Laboratories Research Center, which has been classified as excellent.
IPMA
IPMA is a public research institution established in 2012, devoted to research, technological development, innovation, services and dissemination activities on sea and atmosphere. It acts as counsellor to the national authorities for aquaculture and fisheries industries and related organizations. IPMA has an extensive experience of participation in research projects, resulting in collaborations with several institutions and significant funding attracted.
